strange 7.2 problem
Hi all.
I have a strange 7.2 problem. When I first installed 7.2 and opened a 7.1 session on which I was working just the day before it sounded a little different to me. My first reaction was that I must be crazy, so I bounced the session from the 7.2 and the same session with 7.1 and made a cd. I must say it didn’t sound the same. Then I decided to make another test: I created a new session, added a master track and an aux track with signal generator 1k -18db and got the reading of -18 on the aux and -20.5 on the master ( it was a stereo master so no problems so far). I dup the aux track so now I have 2 aux tracks with 1k at -18 and got a reading of -26 on the master( as much as I know it should be -15 or so ). I made another dup so now I have 3 aux with 1k@-18 and got a reading of -18 on the master (which now should be -12 or so). Then I muted the third aux and another strange thing happened, the level went up. I tried to trash all the prefs reinstall the program downloaded a fresh copy checked all the prefs but couldn’t find anything wrong. When I did the same thing on 7.1 it worked as it should. I’m on a dual2.7, HD3, 10.4.6. I took snapshots of the session with the readings and you can DL it from my idisk: gilfeldman3 and it’s in my public in a folder pt72. If anyone have an idea please let me know. Gil |

Re: strange 7.2 problem
Gil-
one problem with your test is that the signal generator is not running synchronously on the 3 aux's, so you could have some phase cancellation happening. Try the following- create your stereo aux with the signal generator- then buss that to three stereo aux's. then check the volume level at the master fader- It should be what you are expecting. charles maynes

Re: strange 7.2 problem
I just did your test with 7.2 and the channels are adding as they should. I tried it with stereo auxes as well and everything is normal. If you load your mixes into a session and invert the phase on one, do you get a significant null?

Re: strange 7.2 problem
I took the mix from the 7.1 and the one from the 7.2 and did not get a significant null.
I just got the install DVD from Digi so I’m about to try to install everything again. Gil |
