Is Avid MME needed?
I am just wondering if I need to have Avid MME running on startup. Any thoughts?

Re: Is Avid MME needed?
If you’re referring to Avid’s ‘Digidesign MME Refresh Service’, I disable it in Windows System Configuration

Re: Is Avid MME needed?
I too have always wondered about that... What is it for? OK to disable?

Re: Is Avid MME needed?
https://www.file.net/process/mmerefresh.exe.html
"The MMERefresh.exe file is located in a subfolder of "C:\Program Files (x86)" (mainly C:\Program Files (x86)\Digidesign\Drivers\ or C:\Program Files (x86)\Digidesign\Pro Tools\)." MME Refresh was once mandatory (back in Mbox and 002 days) 11-18-2005, 04:28 PM https://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=892150&postcount=2 It should be running all the time -- it detects when you add or remove your 002 so it can identify and autoload the MIDI ports. 10-23-2017, 09:29 AM https://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=2455505&postcount=2 "MMERefresh" can run at start up. Part of Digidesgin Protools. Refreshes your midi ports on the 002(R) (the 002R is a hardware audio/midi converter connected to your computer via firewire). Must be running in order to use the MIDI functionality of the Digi002R I’ve disabled it for years (and the wheels haven’t fallen off yet!) 11-18-2005, 08:25 PM https://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=892226&postcount=3 I kill it, it installs with my MBOX 1 too. … and, from Dave, who keeps coming up with buckets of useful stuff: 10-23-2017, 09:53 AM https://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=2455509&postcount=3 Apparently, its okay to disable it as I have and not found anything bad happening on my rig(midi still working as well but its an HDN rig).
