Default Western Digital External HDD

Does anyone here own, or use elsewhere, a Western Digital HDD? I have seen that they offer models specific to mac and also some models designed for 'creative professionals'. Any help and info on these drives would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Hmmm I have had one WD USB back up portable drive for my PT system and it is totally trashed after 6 months, it can not be re-formatted and has totally died, it gave up when I plugged in my PSU to my macbook pro.

My other drives are a g-tech 750gig quad drive, a lacie D2 300gig drive and a lacie 80 gig rugged drive, I have not had any problems with these over the past year.

Hope this helps.

When I opened up my Lacie drive there was a Western Digital drive in it. I've had one WD drive die, also an IBM and Maxtor. I think they're all about the same. I've never had a Seagate fail on me. There are only a few bare hard drive manufacturers. The cases and power supplies come from other companies.

I've had one for a couple of years and it's still working fine. It wasn't very expensive, but I record all my sessions to it. Maybe once or twice it has dissappeared from my desk top but when I reset it it always come back.

OWC Mercury's are pretty damn reliable and best of all no cooling fan, so no need to hide it or isolate it... dead silent. Most WD External's I have seen had noisy fans.
