Default Latency w/ Sampletank & Reason Adapted - Mbox

Is there any further way to reduce the latency when monitoring Sampletank & Reason Adapted plug-ins? I have played around with the playback engine and have reduced to 512 samples. Idealy I'd like to reduce down to 256 or 128 samples but my system pops when I use these rates. Any recommendations? Will increasing the RAM help? I already have a gig. Running an XP PC. Thanks.
