Focusrite ISA 428 "Pre Pack" and Digi002 Rack?

I am looking at the Focusrite ISA 428 "Pre Pack", It looks like the perfect front end to a 002Rack.It has only 4 mic pre's but 8 A/D converters, they are even explained as channels on the website.
I wanted to know what others thought...

I have the isa 428 w/ the a/d card...Keep in mind that the extra 8 channel a/d card is going to run you an extra $600 on top of the $1700 for the actual mic pre...As for the a/d, I'm pretty damn pleased w/ the sound of these converters...I've a/b'd them next to my apogee TRAK2 and It's done fairly well next to it...As for the mic pres on the 428 I'll give them a rank of a bit colorful but for the most part , they lean toward the transparent side...If that makes any sense...The impedence selector on each channel makes quite a difference on the sound that your mic captures...It's kind of like having 16 different options of mic pres...It's quite the good 1st good preamp next to a 002...I say that because of the A/D and the pre's....Anyhow, have fun...

I have it and I like it but I don't have the converter option. I agree with the above post - more clean than colored.

Do you need that many pre's? Are you more interested in the converter's over the mic pre?
