Export Clips as Files... (to mono)
I have a session with production audio files that are 4 channels. I have them set up on LCRS tracks within Pro Tools for easy editing. Is there a way to "batch" export these files as a mono (summed) file? Not by bouncing them all down individually. This would help for the picture editor and will then help me with conforms.

Re: Export Clips as Files... (to mono)
Split the tracks to mono and then export an AAF would be my first rec.
Or if you don't care about keeping your edits in tact for the picture guy, consolidate all the tracks, and you'll have nice long individual mono files in your Audio Files folder ready to copy over. |

Re: Export Clips as Files... (to mono)
Thanks for the tip, KMcK. Unfortunately, the editor is working in FCP and can't import an AAF. My PT session is full of entire audio files so there are no edits to preserve. I'm trying to give the picture editor a summed mono export of the 4 channel tracks (of individual lavs) to make it easier for him to edit with. I'm trying to avoid having him edit with multichannel files and just one mono sum. Anything else? :/

Re: Export Clips as Files... (to mono)
Oh I misunderstood. You essentially want to mix the 4 tracks into one mono track for the editor, right?
Pro tools doesn't have any way of mixing faster than real time. You can split the tracks to monos and assign them all the same mono output and either bounce to disk or record back onto a mono track in the session via a bus, but you can't mix tracks via an export, only in real time. |
