FREE Waves COSMOS Sample Finder & $9.99 CR8 Sampler
Waves has released a pretty cool sample finder that is AI powered and can tag your samples automatically. Find your samples in the normal 'List' view or check out the 'Sample Cloud' to find similar samples.
waves cosmos small.jpg It comes with 2500 samples and you can import your own. It's free. Get COSMOS free here And/or get the new Waves CR8 Creative Sampler for a $9.99 intro price. CR8 includes COSMOS btw. waves cr8 small.jpg Get CR8 Creative Sampler for $9.99 here

Re: FREE Waves COSMOS Sample Finder & $9.99 CR8 Sampler
Was just looking at that earlier.
The sample manager looks like a scaled down version of Loopcloud and the sampler, whilst not feature packed, looks like another handy tool for simpler tasks, particularly for $10! Looks very similar to Mimic from Reason Studios, but IIRC, that doesn’t do layers. I assume the filters etc. would sound like MetaFilter or taken from one of their synths. Interested to hear what the timestretch algos sound like. Again, can’t really complain for the price. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Can't go wrong for Free, or $10 for CR8.
Cosmos is really cool. Would be nice if it had some basic edit functions, but it's easy to sort and find what you want. The Sample Cloud (Cosmos) view reminds me of XLN XO. I use to use the Loopcloud manager until they went to subscription. I used Soundly before that, then they went to subscription and you couldn't add all your own samples anymore.

Yes! It reminded me of that too but couldn’t for the life of me remember what the name was.

Re: FREE Waves COSMOS Sample Finder & $9.99 CR8 Sampler
One feature the sampler touts is that you can drag audio directly from the edit window of your DAW to the plugin window. I’ve never seen this work in any Pro Tools plugin except Structure RTAS. The functionality disappeared with AAX. Can anybody be confirm this works or doesn’t? If it does… CR8 is a no-brainer.

It is by Avid's design that drag and drop doesn't work. They "fixed" it in the transition from RTAS to AAX.

Yeah. That’s cute when they were banking on everything being AAX-DSP and it was a “hardware limitation” but it ended up being a bad gamble with how things turned out largely native for the “creator” users.

Re: FREE Waves COSMOS Sample Finder & $9.99 CR8 Sampler
It does work the other way around. You can drag audio and midi from some plugins into the PT timeline. XO and Machine springs to mind. So why not the other way?

Re: FREE Waves COSMOS Sample Finder & $9.99 CR8 Sampler
You can add your own libraries it seems, which is what I would expect.
On closer inspection, though, it seems to scan you library and automatically tags it all with usable metadata. Making it easier to find similar sounding samples or samples with other types of characteristics. That, plus the drag and drop I don't think I've seen in a sample browser before. Not to mention it's FREE and only $10 for the sampler. That's a no brainer really. |
