Default Wait For Note not working

I cant seem to get "Wait For Note" to function in any of my PT8.03 sessions.
I record enable the track(s)
Enable the "Wait For Note" button in the transport window
The record button and play button beginning flashing and within 2-3 seconds begins recording before a single midi note is triggered.
I am sure it is me, but I have tried every combination/order I can think of to start this, but I cant figure this one out.
thanks

It might be that one of your MIDI controllers is sending out something like MIDI tempo or CC messages and PT is starting to record b/c it's seeing these incoming MIDI signals even though you haven't hit a note yet.

Have you tried disconnecting all your MIDI devices to test and see if the problem still happens? If it does, then you might try trashing preferences and such as outlined in the General Troubleshooting thread.

I will try that. I do have my m audio axiom 61 pro controller and roland td 12 connected with the instrument input set to "all" so I can trigger notes from either without having to change the input. Would that be a problem?
thanks
