Default Are there free updates included with the PT version that is 50% off now?

My PT Ultimate license expired and I see now that there is a 50% off deal for a new PT Ultimate for one year. Can I get that and does it come with the free updates for a year? https://shop.avid.com/ccrz__ProductD...ate=DetailView

That is a subscription. It will give you updates but only as long as you subscribe. Did you have an Ultimate subscription that expired? Or a perpetual license with a Support and Update plan that ended? If the latter your perpetual license will stay at the last version you were eligible for when the plan ended.

Attached is what I have/had. It says perpetual but it was subscription even though originally I had perpetual before subscriptions became a thing. I don't know. I'm totally confused.

You have two Perpetual licenses that expired in 2021 & 2017. They’re not subscriptions. You can take advantage of the deactivation of Perpetual licenses at the sale price and get a years worth of releases. When the year is almost up, you’ll be given the opportunity to renew your Perpetual licenses at the annual cost. This is not the same as a Pro Tools monthly or yearly subscription plan.

If you opt out of not renewing the Perpetual after a year, you can continue using the last available version in your account.

The link you posted is to the subscription plan.

You want the Perpetual reinstatement. It’s $499 for Ultimate

You can also take the Get Current deal that Avid is offering until end of the year only. It means you can renew your support plan even though your old one has expired. Then you would not lose the perpetual license.

You mean I can get this one (attached) instead, still get updates and save $100?

No, you don’t want this plan. If you get this plan it’s a subscription and if you do not renew after a year, Pro Tools will stop working completely. Also, that price is only for the first year of subscription. The renewal will cost more.

Call Sweetwater and ask them about the Perpetual Reinstatement plans or click on the link I posted above and follow the links in the article.

$499 for Reinstatement, $399 annually thereafter.

No. Nothing that says SUBSCRIPTION if you want to keep your permanent license.

I mean this. Only valid until end of the year.

If you have two licenses, your best bet would be to buy one straight from Avid and get it activated right away, then buy another one from reseller, who will give you a code that you can use on a later date (not date of purchase).
