Default Code 7 error instead of launching PT9.

Hi guys, I run PT 9.06 on Win 7 64bit and it's always been great. This morning instead of launching it gives a message that says " Code -7" and then another box that says "This application has failed to start correctly".

Any ideas?

Best regards,

Ludwig

Right click the icon. Under the compatibility tab check the box that says run as administrator.

In that same box, there is also a place to check this item: Disable Desktop Composition. I would also check this

Mine did that the other day but with Pro Tools 8. The fix was to run msconfig and disable everything in the services tab except for microsoft and avid/pace items then restart computer (click hide microsoft services then disable all then reselect all avid & pace services) . Pro tools will then launch fine. I then turned everything back on again in msconfig services & restarted computer again and it worked fine this time with everything enabled. Don't know why but it fixed the problem.

You run msconfig by typing it in the text box in the start menu and pressing enter.

Once you get things working again, that's a good time to save a drive image. Then, the next time you have a serious system issue, restore from the image

Thanks guys, but none of these suggestions worked. My PT9.06 on my laptop still works, so it doesn't seem to be my iLok.

I uninstalled 9.06 and reinstalled (9.02 full version), and still the code-7 comes up and refuses to launch.

Any other ideas?

This from another thread;
http://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/...-error-code-7/

Although it relates to PT10 I'd still give it a shot.
