Newbie needs some technical advice, please.
Hi guys,
I am considering PT9 on Macbook Pro running my two Yahama i88x mLan units on Firewire 400. The system HAS to be SUPER stable as I need to track up to 24 tracks, often slaved to timecode/SMPTE for film/tv. Mixing and FX are irrelevant for the purpose of this setup. Can anyone make any suggestions / warn me about any pitfals? WHich Macbook Pro will do the job? Also, should I record to an external USB2.o drive? Thanks very much for the help! Ludwig Bouwer |

Pro Tools will not record to USB drives. As long as you can use FW drives in conjunction with those Yamaha mLan units, do that. Otherwise get a large-enough and fast-enough internal HD and partition it into a boot volume and a sessions volume. Either option will give you the stability you're looking for.
