Newbie needs some technical advice, please.
Hi guys,
I am considering PT9 on Macbook Pro running my two Yahama i88x mLan units on Firewire 400. The system HAS to be SUPER stable as I need to track up to 24 tracks, often slaved to timecode/SMPTE for film/tv. Mixing and FX are irrelevant for the purpose of this setup. Can anyone make any suggestions / warn me about any pitfals? WHich Macbook Pro will do the job? Also, should I record to an external USB2.o drive? Thanks very much for the help! Ludwig Bouwer

Pro Tools will not record to USB drives. As long as you can use FW drives in conjunction with those Yamaha mLan units, do that. Otherwise get a large-enough and fast-enough internal HD and partition it into a boot volume and a sessions volume. Either option will give you the stability you're looking for.
