Default VST plugins

I am using LE through the mbox2 and was trying to use some third party plugins. I have heard that for windows you need another program (ASIO?)to actually open them within protools. Is this true and if so how much and where can this be purchased?
THanks

Hey zachattack,

Of course it depends on which plug-ins you are talking about. PTLE systems will run RTAS and Audio Suite plug-ins from any manufacturer, as far as I know. But, you mention VST in the subject header, so I will address those.

The only way I know of to use the VST plug-ins on PTLE is to use this program:

This one costs $99. There may be other options from other software designers, but I'm not sure who they are.

Hope that helps.
