Used HD card with no software....
Should you buy a core card without transfer of ownership? Can you still get software (how much and where from?). Actually, I have another PT HD system in my main room, could I use PT7.4 and all plugins associated with that system? What are the complications?
Sorry if these are lazy questions!

ok, I did, but still none the wiser, either I missed it or it's too complicated.

so i will need to purchase new software? (as opposed to using a copy of 7.4 that I already have on another computer/system)...

if you want to use both system at the same time you will need to buy another copy of 7.4 & plug-in authorizations and put them on a new iLok
if you just want to use one or the other and move your iLok(s) back and forth, you do not need to buy anything
