Default xpand2 drums

Hey guys

my set up is an m audio m box 2 with protools 8 along with a macbook and an m audio evolution keyboard.

The problem I have may be an easy one to solve.
I have plugged in the gear and am ready to go but when I load up xpand2 and load up a drum kit the top half of my midi keyboard is mute and there is no kick or snare.
Its almost as if everything needs to be shift up and the kicks and snare are at the bottom half.
I have made sure that I have loaded up a kit with snares and kick so this is not the problem.

Any help would be so greatful

cheers

There was a way to do that in early Xpand. Maybe in Xpand2 as well...something like the transpose, hi/lo key. I'm sure if I looked in the manual again I would find it.

Have you tried shifting the octaves on your MIDI controller or are the snares and kicks not even existing on the keys at all?

The kicks and snare just aren't there.
They are loaded up on xpand but I can't assign them.
It's like the bottom half of the keyboard is where the top half should be and the top half is just mute.
It works fine for synth effects and everything else, just not drums, which I am unfortunately relying on :S

Hi Thisguy,
How many keys on your m-audio keyboard? You may have to transpose up a couple of octaves since on most (all?) keyboards the seemingly default layout has the kick and snare starting on the lowest C and then everything ascending from there.

It's possible that you are choosing the drum kit selector/builder "parts" from the plugin dropdowns (the ones that are actually a part of the Xpand2 interface) as opposed to using the plugin "presets" in the standard preset menu. This is the one that says <factory default> when you open a new instance of Xpand.

You should try using the "presets", not the "parts" until you figure out how the parts work together for drums..

Thanks for getting back to me

arneal, that sounds like the problem, how do I go about tranposing it up an octave? It's a 37 key m audio evolution?

P.s I am using the presets

What Patch? And have you set the MIDI Controller an octave up?

Drum patch using any of the preset kits.

The snare and kicks aren't being played and the top half of the midi keyboard is muted.

Someone has suggested it needs transposed up and if so how do I do this?
Otherwise any other suggestions what's going wrong?

Many thanks

Duncan
