Default 'Back-Up Hard Drive' Software/Versioning Recommendation

Can anyone recommend a good free program for backing up data or making safeties from one drive to another. I've heard great things about some (names escape me) and want to move up from simply dragging the entire session folder over to drive #2.

Thanks in advance!

You can use

synctwofolders

to syncronize folder on differnt drives. You do not have to backup every twice because it compares the directories and backs only new or modified content

or you use

Carbon copy cloner to to the same

We use ChronoSync to keep an up to date backup. Has a nice feature set.

Not an official endorsement, but I really like SuperDuper - it has the best feature set and most complete copying of critical system files (if you use it for OS drive backup).

This article has good info and comparisons:

(Yes, the article is a bit old and things likely have changed, but I couldn't find the more recent article that still lauds SuperDuper as the best of the bunch..)
