Default Tweak Head conversion quality

Hey all—

Longtime DAW user but new to Pro Tools. What's the general consensus about the internal SRC quality in PT compared to others known to be good such as Izotope? Do most people stay in PT for converting sessions, or go outside? Or is that even possible? Thanks for any insight.

Hey,

I personally find the conversions from say 24bit 48K to CD quality work very well, but MP3 conversion I choose to use a 3rd party option. Tweak head is my default setting for conversions.

Same here. I almost always bounce out at the sessions' sample rate and bit depth, then use Wavelab for making an mp3. As for SRC, tweakhead is my setting and AFAICT, it sounds great. Recently dropped a batch of 96K sessions to 48K(96K was killing my system) and the 48K versions sounded fine when I was done with them

Today, the TweakHead should be the only algorithm available (as in no user selection at all). It was back in the olden days when computers were slow.

Yeah, thanks, I had forgotten about that comparison site. I agree that most professional SRC's are good these days. And while the graphs are cool and all, I still like hearing if long time Pro Tools users have felt the need to go elsewhere for their conversion, whether by necessity or gut feeling. So far it looks like folks are generally fine with the built-in option.
