Default Why does amp volume have to cranked so high on SPDIF out on 001?

When using SPDIF out on Digi 001, I have to crank my amp (Pioneer 100 watts per channel with a digital coax in) really high to get decent volume to my montitors (JBL S38II). Is there a gain control on SPIDF out that I am missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

it's not in some crazy matrixed surround mode or something is it ?? (prologic on the amp)

s/pdif is s/pdif ... sounds like there's some digital attenuation going on at the amp, maybe check the manual

cheers,
marcus

All the surround modes are shut-off. Is there any advantage to going S/PDIF out rather than analog out if one has a digital interface on the amp? Maybe I should just go out the mains of the 001. Thanks Marcus.
