Default Is this a GUI bug or a feature?

How do I get to this mode where, in the mixer window, the send fader covers up the space of all 5 collapsed sends instead of pushing them down,. Occasionally I will look at my screen and see it showing this way but cannot figure how I got there, like in my normal ham-handed typing I hit a key combination. It really saves screen real estate and I wonder if I am missing something new and basic....I’m using Protools Ultimate, latest version on a Mac Pro M2 rack
Here’s a screenshot:

and showing the “normal” way:

View> Expand Sends, then choose which send or sends to expand.

I probably was not clear in my initial post.

What I meant is, If you look at the 2 screenshots, you will see that the send A fader takes up the space of where the 5 unexpanded sends would be, with no increase to the vertical screen space used.

In the second one, the unexpanded sends for B,C,D and E are pushed down underneath, increasing the vertical mixer window.

I keep a lot of elements in view on my mixer window and any space saving feature is definitely desirable.

Uncheck “expanded sends.”

you've taken the two screenshots using different mixer display widths, ie Narrow & Normal. Is this affecting the result ?

You might be accidentally Command clicking the the arrow on a send which expands it into view. Or Option Command clicking which brings all sends into view.

No, narrow or wide view has no bearing

I have never seen this behavior, I suspect it's a bug.

I can't find any way to reproduce what you are seeing (Intel Mac running 2023.12.0 Studio). Expand a single send, expand all sends, mute/unmute sends, wide/narrow view, mon, stereo, etc. tracks, routing folders, etc all work as expected for me via keyboard shortcuts or the View menu options.

Have you started with trying to trash prefs?

Does this happen in multiple sessions or only one?

Does it only happen for folders/routing folders

This is a view that used to exist in PT 10. There was single send vs assignment view. Seeing as you aren't on PT 10 (and this was taken away in PT 11), this is a bug -- probably some old code.

I created a case and asked tech to take a look to determine if it is old code that needs to be fixed.

Case # 04760354

Thanks and they will get in touch with you.
