Re: Explain SampleTank
SampleTank is the only Soft Synth available at this stage as an RTAS plugin for the PC.
Download the FREE version from the SampleTank website and see for yourself. Mark

Re: Explain SampleTank
Toadies,
Think of Sampletank as a Sound Module for your computer that plays real sampled instruments. Sampletank can play 16 different sounds on 1 ST module. But you can open up multiple modules, etc. It can have up to 4 efx per midi channel for a complete sound enhancements. Plus it's easy to use and powerfull & lots more...

Re: Explain SampleTank
I am not sure I understand your follow up question fully...but i think the best way to explain it is as follows:
SampleTank shows up in your "insert" plugins list. Meaning that it has to be inserted on a stereo aux or stereo audio track. Now, in order to actually control and trigger Sampletank, you need to create a seperate MIDI track and assign the output of the MIDI track to any available SampleTank Channel. It is not like Logic Audio, where an audio instrument channel controls both MIDI and audio functions in one I/O strip.

Re: Explain SampleTank
So do you need a midi keyboard or something other than Sampletank to use it?
Would it allow me to generate a Hammond organ track for example? In other words, does it come with it's own library of instrument voices, and can I trigger those intruments using any midi controller (keyboard)?

for my midi recording. You can also draw the midi notes with the pencil tool. SampleTank comes with there own sound library. With the Xl version you can import Akai sounds and in the future you can import your own Sounds. Check the Sampletank site. Pieter |

Re: Explain SampleTank
I'm curious about SampleTank too...
What's the benefit over an external sound module? I usually just go straight in (audio) from my keyboard... don't use midi much. Better sounds? More sounds? Any other reason?

Re: Explain SampleTank
I've heard here on the duc that the sounds are comparable with the JV 10180. One of the advantage is that the settings are saved in your PT session so you don't have to do midi dumps and your have easy excess on you computer screen.
On the other hand it's quite cpu intensive. Quote:
