sdII, wav & aiff are all uncompressed pcm audio. the data inside the files is identical the only differences are the header files.

i tend to use aiff files as i find they don't throw up problems when transfering between applications etc...

YES, no one will use / accept SDII anymore,

This is true. There is one other small difference which doesn't really make a difference but I figured I'd point it out. WAV files are big endian, and AIF and SDII are little endian. In programming terms, big/little endian states which bits come first, the lower or the larger. So with Big Endian the bits are order largest first down to smallest

128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1

With little endian the bits are ordered from small to large within the file.

1 2 4 8 16 32 64 128

It doesn't really make any difference to the sound of the file or to how the file works within any given software. But I just figured I'd give you this little useless tidbit...just for the heck of it.
