Default W11 23h2 ?

Hi all !

MS is pushing 23H2 here. Any one installed it yet. Problems? Should I avoid it?

Just after this update loaded, PT started freezing - screen and cursor would stop, but audio continued. Cursor would resume after 15 seconds or so, then stop again while audio continued.

This has happened before after certain Windows updates. On my Dell laptop, I determined that it was a conflict with the Killer WiFi 1650x drivers. In the past, I’d roll back these drivers and it would fix it. But now, I just turn off wifi when I’m mixing, and everything works. Not a big deal since I use an iLOK dongle.

Interestingly, often after a subsequent Win11 maintenance update, the problem goes away, and I can leave WiFi on. Go figure.

And with all Windows updates, after they are done and the system reboots, double-check system tweaks(especially turning off Power Management on all USB ports)

Thanks for your input.

I'll wait abit more, unless 'forced' by MS. My system is functioning ok as is. Win updates never was source of problems before but... better safe than sorry.

BTW. Upgraded D-disk from a 7200 HDD spinner, to an SSD. Still Red spikes on loading sessions, but no audio engine crash as before.

I installed a new 23H2 update, and the graphic freeze went away. I can leave WiFi on if I want.

I like to keep the OS always up-to-date for security reasons. I create and store OS drive images (Macrium Reflect or similar). If my boot drive ever gets hosed, it takes only a few minutes to restore an older/working image.
