Video randomly does not play during record

I'm doing some ADR and randomly, like 7 out of 10 times, PT will not play the video during recording. This is with only 1 record track enabled. The chances of it playing is almost zero with two record tracks enabled. Once the video stops playing even highlighting areas with the Selector Tool doesn't move or scrub the video. I have to press play to get the video moving again.

It seems like the chances of playback improves when the video window is reduced in size. I've never experienced this before. It didn't happen in 8.0.1.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Any solutions?

Here's my setup:
PT HD 8.1.1, Mac Pro 2 x 2.8GHz quad core Intel, 16GB ram, OS X 10.6.7
Pro Tools edit and track windows on dual 21" Apple Cinema Displays, video from secondary video card to a Panasonic AX100 projector.

What type of video file? You better not say H.264...

I'll have to look at the specific file and get back to you. It has occurred with both 1080p and 720p video file resolutions.

Yes, separate audio and video drives. The video is from an internal drive, while all audio is on external Glyph GT series drives via firewire 800.

I had this bug randomly appear in different sessions. Absolutely not often. The farthest I got in problemsolving it was that the bug was somehow "stuck" in the sessionfile. When I imported the tracks into another session the bug went away. All else failed.

It has recently started to happen more often for me after having been gone for a couple of years. Really annoying.

Has anybody else ever experienced this?
