Default Taste like burning...

Hey Digi,
Working in PTLE on a G4/500, running OS9. Looking to burn finals to CD-R. Would you recommend a CPU based burner or a standalone(like the Tascam CD-RW2000)?
Thanks, great forum.

skwent,

Avoid stand alone burners at all cost...a SCSI based burner, is far better, in to many ways to list here.

Regards

skwent,

For the purpose you mention, cpu based would have the advantages of 1. making a final cut without having to go back and put skip id's on the passes you flub, and 2. doubling as a form of data backup for the sessions themselves.

Just don't tell my two hhb 850's I said that.

skwent,
The one advantage that stand-alones have is speed for roughs/one-offs/approvals, etc.
You dont have to write the file to disk, you can record realtime and then just fix up the disk. There's been many a time that I've wished I had one.

I own both a data backup CDR burner as well as a Tascam CDR5000, purchased in that order.
I use my standalone every day for quick reference mixes anytime, indispensable.
My scuzzy is a necessity for backups as well as "bounce to disk mixes". also quite indispensable.
I hate this term usually but "Its all good"
seems to apply here.
