Not tried this yet but:
Quote:
Backward compatibility, Altiverb 8 opens in sessions/projects that were made with Altiverb since 2006 and the session/project will sound the same.

I've been using it in beta for a little while.
It's very stable, backwards compatible and has some cool new features.

7XL to 8XL is US$199 for the American audience (not an exact currency conversion but close enough)

Proceed with caution!!

Completely unstable here! I can instantiate it on an Aux track but as soon as I assign a bus to that track, Pro Tools crashes.

In my default template session it is crashing whenever I instantiate it on an Aux or Instrument track with an input assigned.

Version 8.0.3 is the latest.

Doh!

Save the $199 and put it towards Cinematic Rooms Pro. IMHO.

Use Source-Connect with Aux IO. Works fine. Forget the link plugin. It's not needed anymore. Unless, I suppose, your using Source-Connect with RTS and need the Rewire plugin.

For anyone who has been able to play with it yet, if you open a session that had Altiverb 7 in it, make some tweaks on a system with 8, and then move the session back to a system with only an Altiverb 7 license, will it still open, or once it hits 8, you'll have to stay on systems with 8?

Already have all the Liquidsonics/Reverb Foundry. And algorithmic reverb plugins have their place.
However, I also have years of TV and film work using Altiverb. I think a lot of users will do it just for that.
But I'm also pleased they (finally) have true center instead of bleed and they've cleaned up controls and pan-focused reverb for surround/ATMOS. (I'm 99% surround)
