Waves APA32 Report
Got my APA32 this morning. Hooked it up, loaded the 5.2 Diamond/L3/IR-1/QClone software.
It works beautifully. A single instance of the IR-1 uses approx 16% of the APA's processor, an L3 Multi uses about 15%, and so on. Personally, I couldn't be happier, and, as usual, the tech guys at Waves were an absolute pleasure to deal with. Just thought I'd pass the info along.

Re: Waves APA32 Report
So it sounds like it's roughly equivalent to an additional modern CPU running those plugins...and it "works beautifully". Nice revue. Thx.

Re: Waves APA32 Report
Another thing that makes this an attractive unit:
You get a free QClone ($750.00 at zZounds and the like) You get a free IR-L ($250.00 at most outlets) That's $1000.00 worth of plug ins The unit cost me 1099.00 When I do the math, I feel better Then again, I already had the IR-1, which includes the IR-L. But...Waves offered me another plug in. Sadly, I HAVE all their stuff except for the Surround stuff, which I have no use for They promised to do something for me down the line, either in extended WUP, or with one of a couple new plugs they're working on. FYI, The free IR-L and QClone promotion is only for a limited time. The one small complaint I have about the APA32 is that it's pretty noisy (the fan system). Then again, it comes with a 30 ft. ethernet cable, so it doesn't have to be anywhere nearby. Gotta tell you, it's pretty cool to be able to run a couple IR-1s, a few C4's, and a couple RVerbs without touching my comps CPU.

Re: Waves APA32 Report
Hi,
well, I've been trying to get my APA32 working sinse last night, doesn't connect via crossover cable supplied or via the network. I haven't had any replies to my tech support requests (via email as phoning for support from Australia is pretty costly). Did your APA come with any disks or other software to enable the unit or did you just use the downloads of 5.2? I hope you don't mind me asking. many thanks |

Re: Waves APA32 Report
My APA32 came with no software.
I downloaded the 5.2 versions from the Waves site. Must have the unit hooked up but powered off when loading the 5.2 stuff. Gotta get rid of the 5.1 stuff first, but the 5.2 installers will prompt you to do that.

Re: Waves APA32 Report
ok we're up and going!
Thank you very much for your help! Here is where I became confused, when you are installing the 5.2 software a dialogue box appears prompting you to press ok. But the dialogue box is misleading, it says something like: if the unit is directly connected make sure that the unit is switched off if the unit is connected via a LAN make sure that the switch is on .... they mean the damn LAN switch not the power switch .... so just make sure that you leave the unit powered down until the software is installed. I owe you a drink EJ |
