This is a LAME decision digi (Avid). You discontinued the 001 because it was a pci device, but the mbox is usb. Why would you discontinue it? This is a stupid decision to force your customers to upgrade their hardware. You guys continue to SUCK more with every passing day!!!!! Sorry, I couldn't find a nice way to say it.

I don't know about you but I'd prefer 8.0.1 over 8.0.0.

I don't think this has anything to do with software or hardware related issues... its only business ya know
And to make sure it won't work there will be a piece of code in the program as well.

Do we actually know any of these things? Digi has never made clear what exactly "support" means. Digi still provides tech support, here, for the 001, for instance.

Oooooh no. I'm not updating mid-way through working on a project again. I learned my lesson LOL

Still, my complaint was that they should have dropped support of the mbox when releasing 8.0.0, or waited until 8.3.0 came out.

New versions of PT LE come with the hardware purchase, so who the hell would pay for a software upgrade to a product that's being dropped if they knew that was coming? Essentially what happened was people paid for the upgraded software and now may want to pay for new (supported) hardware that comes with the same upgrade they just purchased.

Hopefully there's a money-back thing to counter that.

I'm guessing that the fact they are working on getting Snow Leopard and Win 7 qualified along with writing some 64 bit hardware drivers and the fact that they are dropping the MBox may be related.
