It won´t work. I´m on 8.0.4.
New colors every new round.
A new track will stay gray but when loop recording every new take will have a new color.
If not loop recording and I move the last take to a new playlist the region will change color against my will...

AFAIK there's no shortcut implemented for ColorPalette.

But you can use QuicKeys for assigning one.

....other (more fancy) solution is to get a D-Command/Control and assign it to a User-SoftKey

Ok... but Quick Keys is a generic OS X application? I can´t find any menu to make up my own key commands in PT...

I’m not sure what you mean by “generic OS X application,” but QuicKeys will indeed allow you to create a shortcut to invoke the Color Palette — and then some.

IHTH.
