Question Please Help With Laptop Question

Hello,

My birthday is next month and I am going to get a laptop for recording my original music. I would like to know what I should look for when purchasing this type of laptop. I'll have about $700.00 to spend. Are there any brands that I should look for or avoid.

Thanks for the help.

Raul

Well, brands is something that's been posted in this forum a few times before - many will of course recommend the brand that they have.

I for one can safely tell you that Toshiba is fine (because I'm using one, albeit with Pro Tools LE) - but purely from a components point of view I would recommend locating a laptop with two physical internal HDD's (not two partitions on one single drive), and at least 4Gb RAM.
Just as a start.

I personally have never seen that, nor did I realize they made them with dual internal HDD. Hmmm. One little note from my experience, I have a dell Inspirion (?? I forget the model) and it's not a great machine but is fine for live tracking, just not mixing and editing. But before I disabled the c1e in the bios and changed the power settings to cpu min max 100% It would not function with PT at all.

Don't forget about FW chipsets should you choose to use a FW external drive for audio (gotta have 2 HDD.) PT and Ti chips make a great couple
