003 rack & Pod XT Pro - Effects Loop

Hi everyon, I am a noob at this so go easy on me OK, I have a Digi 003 rack + and Line 6 Pod XT Pro and was wanting to use the POD as an FX processor for the 003 rack. On the 003 Rack +, I have 8 XLR MIC inputs and 8 Line/DI inputs and I wanted to apply some FX on some of the MIC channels and on the guitars. There are 8 outputs as well. So i need to know the following...

1) How do I physically connect this up? Do I use one or two outputs on the 003 rack? and then do these cables go into the "Effects Send" or "Effects Return" on the POD XT Pro?

2) Then I will obviously have to complete the loop back to the 003... Do I use the "Effects Send" or "Effects Return" to go back to the 003?

3) The "Effects Send" and "Effects Return" both have "LEFT/MONO" & "RIGHT" jacks. Do I need to use all four jacks?

4) The last question is.... What do I need to do in Pro Tools? Anything special?
