Default Blue D Command to ES color version?

Anybody wondering other than me if a blue D Command can be converted to the newer ES Look?

I Asked my Avid tech about this a couple of months ago, she said she would check and come back to me with an answer. Never had the answer.
I would love to do this. The ES version seems so much easier on the eyes, labels are easier to read.

I will ask her again today!

I can't imagine it would be in ANY WAY cost effective. Probably easier to sell yours and buy a used ES... seriously.

You are probably right...
But who knows, maybe she will tell me " Yeah, of course, we only have to change 6 plastic plates and it will cost 600$!".

I dont know, i never checked if the grey plates are just mounted on a frame or if it's more complex than that.

But i could not afford to sell my D-Command and purchased a used ES, i would loose something like 10 000$ (i have a 24 fader console) just to have an easier to read console...

Dreaming...

The response I got when I got my blue D-Control was that it's apparently a HHUUUUUGE deal, and as Drew said, in no way cost-effective.

Oh well.

They actually used to offer this for the D-control but it was something like $25,000 !!!!

a few years ago when the D-command ES 1st came out I tried to have them upgrade my blue unit and it wasn't an option.

I ultimately ended up selling the blue console and purchasing the ES.

Not the most cost effective way to get the same exact console with just a different color !

But it is sooooo much easier on the eyes.

It is actually amazing the discrepancy in price for a functionally identical console !

Unhappy Re: Blue D Command to ES color version?

I have from day one wished I had the ES version mainly because I can't see the controls in the daylight! One of these days when I get rich I'll make the change!
