Default Baffled (PT upgrade issue)

I bought Pro Tools 12 back in 2016. Been running 12.3.5 on my tower 12.5.2 on my laptop. Decided to upgrade to Pro Tools 12.7 on my tower. I did and I'm no longer able to run pro tools. Looked on my Ilok account and I have a License for PT 12. Plugged ilok into my laptop (running 12.5.2) and it opens up fine. Am I missing something? Thanks for the help.

Every 12 perpetual license has an end date for versions you can run. It allows up until the last version released while you were still under an update plan. You can find out that information by opening iLok manager, finding your pro tools license, click "show details" (lower right corner if that pane is closed), and look at "release limit" date. You can run every Pro Tools 12 version that was released before that date.

However...

Since you are dealing with around the period of 12.5, the licenses changed and there was a big issue where all the licenses got swapped to a new format. I'm guessing that's your real issue. Download the latest iLok manager, install, select your ilok key with the pro tools license, right click, choose "synchronize". Let it do its thing. Then look at the info about your Pro Tools license. Avid deposited licenses into everyones accounts that should swap for your older one to fix this issue. After all that, if it doesn't work and if you are absolutely sure you had a plan that covered when 12.7 came out, you'll have to open a support ticket so they can manually put that newer license in your account.
