Default single-keystroke markers

Is there a way in PT to place a marker with a single keystroke? I know about placing a marker in "memory locations", but that requires a minimum of two keystrokes and maybe a mouse click. I just want to place a marker on the fly and keep recording. I can't find a way to do this in the manual. Any help?

Thanks in advance.

if you just hit "enter" twice in quick succession it will place and auto name a marker.

Go to Preferences & the Editing tab: enable "Auto-Name Memory Locations while Playing" (which also goes for Recording).

Another good quick tip with markers is you can make specific numbers with .#ent

IE I keep ranges of markers for show/hide, ranges and song points and here vs there editing. So if you want to make marker number 10 (which in my sessions always selects the whole song) you can hit .10ent and the marker will already be in the "10" slot without having to type that in. When you simply need to update an existing one to change the range selection or show/hide status all that saves with what "was" there...

I do as Ryan does ! Keeping the 1 to 9 first markers for windows presets, always the sames, so I begin with marker 10.
