Default Laptop Electric Hum/Interference/Sheilding

I have just installed my Pro Tools on my laptop in place of my desk top.

Pro-tools works fine on the laptop.

My problem is this…..

When the power cable is plugged in to the laptop I get an electric hum showing up on the armed tracks and coming through the headphones/monitors and then finding its way onto the recorded track.

The hum is not present when the laptop is being run on its battery, but of course the battery life is about 60 minutes maximum so it's not practical to just use the battery.

The laptop is an HP dv5040US, 2gigRAM, 100gig h/d AMD Turion processor.

Someone has said that it's RF intereference, but I can't find anyone who knows how to cure it.

i had the same kind of problem. i had the laptop and my monitors all plugged into a power strip i moved the laptop supply off of the strip and plugged it straight into the outlet and got the same noise. but when i plugged the laptop into a completly different outlet away from the strip with the monitors it cured the hum. dont know if this will help you but it cured my problem.

You can try changing the ac power cable that goes To the wall (from the power "brick"), believe me, 2 friends of mine have had this problem, we solved the problem changing that cable. (sorry about my english)
