Windows 10 Compatibility
I recently had to buy a new computer. ProTools First now no longer recognizes my Scarlet interface. New computer does and mic and headphones test out just fine. New computer still runs Windows 10 but not likely 1909 version as this is a brand new system. Installed ProTools version is 2020.9 Could this be the problem? If so, will a ProTools First update address this issue for Windows and when? Or, is there a version of ProTools that has solved this issue that I might purchase and would such an upgrade keep all my current ProTools settings in place? Thanks in advance for your time and attention.

Re: Windows 10 Compatibility
Version 2020.9 is only qualified up to Windows release 1909, so yes, that could be your problem.
Also make sure Windows isn't using the Scarlet as it's default audio device. You can also try holding down the N key while PTF loads, which will bring up the Playback Engine and will allow you to select the Scarlet if it was detected. I'm also assuming you installed the latest drivers from Focusrite for your interface? If not, install them and try the above. |

Thanks so much for the suggestions, Will. I'll look into them once I get back to my home computer. Cheers!

2. Do NOT assign Windows system sound to your audio i/o interface (Scarlet), and ONLY assign Pro Tools to the Scarlet.

Re: Windows 10 Compatibility
Thanks so much for the feedback. Some of it seems to have worked. Here's what's happening now. I installed all recommended updated Focusrite 3rd Gen drivers. Plugged everything in. Opened PTF. Playback Engine now shows Focusrite USB ASIO but when I select that as Playback Engine, my choice for Input and Output device goes away. On the upside, it looks like I can record now. Downside, I cannot hear anything. Focusrite disabled in Windows but I cannot hear playback on PTF. Is there a plug-in or PTF setting I might be missing? 'cos I'm stumped again. Thanks in advance.

Re: Windows 10 Compatibility
Open the Focusrite software as it can make or break any/all routing of audio. I went thru a similar wrestling match with the Presonus software for my Studio 18c interface. Once I got it working, it stayed working(until the next update the that software) Fingers crossed for this working

Re: Windows 10 Compatibility
Huzzah! I seem to be up and running. Have run several tests and things seem to be working fine again. After applying previous suggestions, the one thing I had neglected was to reset the Main Output on my mixer. Once I did that, I was able to hear again. Thank you all for your thoughtful and supremely intelligent, well-informed suggestions. Cheers!
