Default Sync my Roland MV_8800 to ProTools m-powered

I'm trying to sync my mv-8800 tranport with protools to start and stop...can anyone help? I want to be able to track out stuff...kick in kick track...etc....I got it to start and stop but it starts late...so I'm missing the first 2-3 sec of the beat!

It's generally a good idea to leave 1-2 bars empty in PT for sync time. If I understand you correctly you have notes from bar 1. Move everything a bar or two so your devices can sync up before the song starts.

Record some quantized MIDI as audio into PT, and zoom in. You'll see how much negative offset you'd need for the Roland device.

thank man that helped..I still have to set notes seq'd in the mv-8800 a 1/4 of ahead..you know what I'm saying......like as far as bars go..1-1-000....i have to set the pattern at to 3-2-000. IN PT i have it set to 3-2-000...you follow me? measure (3) step (2). over alll i just have to do extra stuff to track out my instruments. I wish the bar 1 would be bar 1...but I can'y have evrything my way..I'M going to call Roland to figure this stuff out!

Yeah, talk to Roland about it. That is way too much trouble to deal with. Are you slaving the Roland unit via MIDI beat clock?

Setup > MIDI > MIDI beat clock. Enable MBC for the port where the 8800 is connected. You also need to tell the 8800 to be the slave, and sync to MBC.
Not familiar with this device, so I can only give some general tips.

Glad you're up and running now.

Nothing on myspace I'm afraid. I'm from the northern parts of Norway, and behold...the birds are singing. FINALLY!
