Default Keyboard Shortcut Comments in the Edit Window?

Hello

Is there a keyboard shortcut to open/close the comments section while in the edit window on Mac?

I can't seem to find one...

Thanks,

Sparky

No. You just have to assign your own key command.
(You can always check the Keyboard Shortcuts window to find out these answers. "Edit Window: Show Comments View" does not have a key combination assigned)

Yeah - I didn't put the 2 ideas together - thinking that if there wasn't one in the "Show Comments View" - that maybe there was still one in existence...

Next project in this journey - learn to create/assign key commands

Thanks BScout

Assigning your own it is pretty easy. Just open it up and explore it for 5 minutes. IT will even show you conflicts.

There is a version of Soundflow that comes with my version of Pro Tools.

I have just started to look into this tonight thinking it might make some of the more common key command shortcuts I have started to use - easier to find…

Also discovered there is an external keypad - Stream Deck - which looks like a time saver…

Thoughts?

First use actual keyboard shortcuts as assigned in the Keyboard Shortcuts window.

Then you can assign those shortcuts elsewhere if you want to: SoundFlow, mouse buttons, StreamDeck.
But start with the first thing of using Pro Tools keyboard shortcuts window.

Reserve Soundflow for complicated workflows (like multiple steps) not silly things like show/hide a view.

I've got, for instance, a custom keyboard command for "Show Name in Clips" so I can get that out of the way. And then my mouse has buttons assigned to "show name in clips", "show clip gain", "show clip gain line", cycle through modes, suspend/enable groups. I know all the keyboard commands by heart but I toggle these so often it comes in handy to just have them on my mouse.

I then have two StreamDecks but these are for multi-step or SoundFlow specific commands. Things like a multi track export process or hide all empty tracks and set the window configuration. Things that take multiple keyboard commands (or mouse movements.) Think of the keyboard shortcuts window as creating building blocks and then StreamDeck/SoundFlow as assembling things with those blocks.

The “free” version of Soundflow that comes with your subscription or update plan does not allow for making custom macros. It also does not allow integration with a Streamdeck.

I have stream deck as well, but I don't like the subscription model of Soundflow. AS well, the stream deck programming is really easy.

I use Keyboard Maestro. Its not expensive either. 36 bucks gets you a license.
Keyboard Maestro takes sometime to get into and understand, but once you get into it, its VERY powerful.

There are plugins that work with Streamdeck. Get KMlink over the Keyboard Maestro one as you don't have to deal with tricking it to see the same key as a different key.
It just looks for the KM macros, Bob's your Uncle.

Streamdeck configuring super simple. Folders, custom Icons (pretty much any size), simple to re-arrange and copy as well.
I have like 4 solo clears in everyone of my different folders or root directory.
It follows applications as well.

This is just my most used Apps that I open often.

Check it out
