MPC 2500 and PT8/Mac/002 won't sync at all

This is for a studio consultation client, but I have followed all digi requested setup to the letter for both machines. When trying to use the MPC as a master controller, PT play button starts flashing and says waiting for sync point and never locks?? Vice versa for control the other way. PT won't control the MPC. We downloaded the current version of the MPC firmware so the midi sync frame rate is adjustable and viewable and all is supposedly set right on both the MPC and PT.

Any clues?

I've got the same problem with MPC 2000 & Pro Tools 7.4 & was hoping the problem would be solved in v. 8! This makes the MPC's useless with Pro Tools & is a SERIOUS drawback to PT!

Now the problem has changed a bit. After my client let the mpc run for about 80-ish bars, pro tools finally started following. NOT syncing, but following. i.e. Pro Tools starts running but not in absolute time with the mpc. the pro tools counter just jumps in at 0 bars as the mpc is up around 80 bars. when the mpc is stopped, you must start from the beginning again and it does the same thing, starts at about 80 bars. ??? also, once following, pro tools will not let you stop it via the PT transport.....ie clicking stop in PT just hiccups and keeps playing along to the mpc......so it's locked but why the long delay and is there any adjustment to make it PT or the MPC?

Running into the same problem! It was working at first and recording though. I finished my project came back the next day and now nothing is working!!!

I have solved this problem in pro tools 8 i set the mpc to midi beat clock slave( mode+ sync+ beat clock+ slave) and pro tools midi beat clock to the master( options midi+ beat clock+ on) when protools begins recording the mpc is triggered. I have noticed the swing time of pro tools is very rigid u need to adjust it to achieve proper feel and timing. The mpc has much better swing than pro tools.

I do all my sequencing in the mpc 2500. I do have one question how can I dump my midi note data into pro tools to score my projects? It would be much faster than hand writing my scores as I compose.
