Losing Communication with DIGI002

I've had the Digi 002 since December of last year. Everything has worked fine, and I'm not sure what has happened to alter its performance.

I use a G4, OS 10.2.8, 1.5 GB ram

Anyway, in an earlier session, I had saved another session within its main folder. This is when the glitch began. I threw away the old session, and it started working alright again. Then, in other sessions now, my G4 loses communication with the Digi 002 during playback at random times. I get an error message that says it's lost communication and I should reconnect the Digi 002. I have to restart the computer, and there are times when the Digi 002 won't even fire up until I've shut down the computer altogether. Sometimes it works for hours, sometimes, 10 minutes.

I'm afraid. Please help.

I can appreciate your anxiety. After dropping a couple grand on a product you expect it to work.

You most likely have a unit with a bad power harness. I have had two of them so far. Call Digi customer support Monday morning and tell them what's happening and they should resolve the issue. In my case, the company overnighted me a new unit (both times.) Of course, the 1st replacement they sent me had the same problem (duh!) but the rep who shipped me the one I got this week says the problem has been fixed.

I talked to a Sweetwater tech guy, and he had them on hand to send. It got here in 2 days. It took me almost three hours to do it (mostly out of caution), but it works fine again. I didn't like getting inside that thing though. There were moments where I had to pry those clamps out, and slipping was not an option, but after you get the 4 clips out, it's a breeze.
