Question MP9 won't record - Frustrated new user

New User here and starting to get a bit frustrated. Got past a BSoD problem after only a few hours of tinkering (incompatibility of a driver for Debut).

I'm now up and running and have everything hooked up but have run into something that I have not been able to figure out. I set up a track to record a test. Using Input 1 on my M-Audio device, input for the track set to that. When I hit the record button, I can see the input on the meter just fine but when I hit the space bar nothing records (although the meter still shows the activity. The cursor moves along the track but no wave form is generated. When I stop the recording, nothing will play back (as, apparently, nothing has recorded).

Any thoughts?

BTW: I do have it set as an audio track, so it's not the "instrument track" problem.

The spacebar is not the Record button. PT has three buttons for record: F12, Ctrl+Spacebar, and 3 on the numpad. Any one of those three will do it. Spacebar alone is Play/Stop toggle.

You know how you learn Pro Tools? by making a whole lot of bad music for about 2 or 3 years after that you might have maybe a beginners concept of what you are doing. so dont get frustrated just work with it as much as possible and it will start to come to you.
