Hyperthreading Question
I understand its not supported. however, I upgraded from W98 and AMD t-bird 1.3 to a 3.3ghz Xeon running PTLE 5.3.. hyperthreading is enabled in bios yet everything "seems" to be working properly. I do get a random DAE increase Buffer Size error even when I'm not using a large amount of plugs. (seems intermittent)..
if hyperthreading is not supported, yet working on my system, How will a HT problem manifest itself? In other words, what negative effects will I encounter by having hyperthreading enabled on my system? |

Re: Hyperthreading Question
I experience no issues with HT enabled. In fact when I disable it i experience a significant performance decrease.
If it aint broke..... neeel

Re: Hyperthreading Question
well I disabled hyperthreading and saw an improvement on the DaveC test. I went from 32-5 to 32-13. I'll see how that transferes to the real world, but at 128 sample rate it did noticeably do much better.
thanks to Phil O'keefe, he linked me up to the digi answerbase where they definetly reccomend disabling HyperThreading as it will effect plug in, track count, and overall computer efficeincy. so far they're right on! thanks. |

Re: Hyperthreading Question
with these questions you need to state what mobo/chipset you are using
HT is working fine for many with an Intel 865PERL mobo, however can cause nothing but problems with other boards 3Ghz P4 Northwood Intel 865PERLL |
