Default how to partition drive?

thansk for reading this, i am trying to squeeze the last bit of life out of my system and just wondered what partioning drives is. i get the impression its a way u can make yr hard drive funcion like 2 virtual drives so u get better performance like having a seperate drive for audio. if anyone could let me know how to do this i would be grateful.
cheers,
alistair

Sorry dude,

Partitioning drives won't increase performance in ProTools. I believe the idea is to have two drives to read/write simultaneously and/or keep the audio drive's head going through the audio without having to read something in the "system" area of the drive. That is what increases the disk transfer performance.

John.

Don't bother partitioning. For this kind of work, unless you have two OS's and you want to run them both off one drive, it won't help anything.

Good Luck
