Will the Digi001 for MAC work on PC?

Hi,

I've bought the Digi 001 for MAC. I am wondering if I can plug in the card that comes with the 001 hardware into the PC? Is it the same card?

Also, where do I get the PC Installation Disc? I only have the MAC version.

Yes, the hardware is interchangeable. Call Customer Service at 650/842-6699. Register your system as a PC system and they'll get the PC software out to you.

Thanks for the reply. But, I have yet to send in my registration card, I was thinking of faxing it in, can I indicate my request for the PC software in my registration fax?

On the registration card, there's a box to select Win98 or Mac. Just select Win98 and you'll get it.

I would like to hear exactly what's the problem here is before I buy digi001 for PC use.

Does digi001 use .wav format instead of "sound designer 2"-files used in macintosh ProTools? Doesn't DigiDesign provide tools for converting the audiofiles?

There's another post on this board somewhere that explains it but I'll take a shot at it. The long and short of it is Digi ran into problems with the conversion tool so they decided to go ahead and release the Win98 version and fix the problem later. I think it's safe to say that they will fix this problem because it is a major part of their marketing strategy.

I believe the conversion tool is made by a third party vendor...that tends lengthen the time it takes to solve the problem.

Yes, the PTLE Win98 uses .WAV format and the Mac use SDII.

Thanks for your reply, but, what IF I want to run the 001 on BOTH my MAC and PC (not at the same time though, because I only have one set of 001). Should I tick both boxes? Please pardon me for this non-Protools-related and non-technical-question.
