2 versions of pt le on same mac?

My 002r rig is running well now on my mac pt le 6.4 cs 9.
I have the insall disc for 6.9 but I'm afraid of instaling a new version.

Can I install 6.9 to the same system drive and keep the 6.4 as a backup?

Only if you partition the drive and install the 2 copies on separate partitions.

just to claifiy:
I need a second partition with a full osx system on it right?

I think that is the case and then you are basically dual booting. One important thing to remember, put your session files in a place you can get to from both boots. If you are using an external drive then this won't be an issue at all.

One final thing, be very careful if you are going to partition with a 3rd party software becuase one false move and you can wipe the wrong partition!
