Another power harness issue...
Hello,
I've been around the boards since I discovered pro tools a while ago, so I know a litle about what's going on here. Another one for the list... I've been after a Digi 002 Rack for a while, also aware about the power harness issue I decided to give it a go and hope my unity was not one of those... ao I finaly bought it. After 2 weeks working with pro tools, my worst thoughts had become a reality... My system shuts down, re-starts, you know... the whole thing. I live in Portugal, what should I do to solve my problem? Who should I contact? What should I expect from digi support? Thanks in advance. |

Re: Another power harness issue...
Digidesign Spain might be the closest to you, though I'm not sure about that. They should be able to replace it for you pretty quickly.
There is also a temporary workaround where you remove and reseat the power harness. Searching this board for "power harness" should turn up the details.

Re: Another power harness issue...
CaveMixMan;
The "Power Harness" problem usually disables communication between the box and PT LE. Or, just keep clicking and the lights don't go on. What you are posting > " My system shuts down, re-starts, you know... the whole thing. " < sounds to me more of a PC issue. Post some specs and error messages please... good luck,

Re: Another power harness issue...
This can be a very tricky problem . . Mine has been replaced three times. I can say that DD responce on each was outstanding however there for a while I was replacing cables and going to fed ex every other month.
After the fouth go around DD finally agreed to send me a latest manufacturing lot unit in exchange for my old one. The problem is that there are revisions to the original fix. So if you had an older fix, it is not unuasual to have it fail. If you do not have the most recent manufacting design you might want to ask for an exchange for a "newer" unit. My 002 was not fixed until my unit was exchanged. Good Luck . . PS - don't ever buy in on the you must pull the harness and clean it campaign . . I have pre-amps and pwr amps from the 70's that have never glitched, and I have never cleaned any of the terminal strips on thos units. |

Re: Another power harness issue...
After a couple hours testing the unit, in order to get that error message I don't remember, it seems like never happened before... I think I'll have to do more tests.
Anyway I contacted Digidesign (Spain) and they e-mailed me the day after, sugesting a litle test that may not have to do with the power harness. Everything seemed to be ok, so my thoughts were for my firewire connections, because after removing the unit from the rack I had my cables re-connected... maybe bad connection on firewire ports I don't know. I'll test it a litle bit more. Thanks |

Re: Another power harness issue...
Hi, I'm from Portugal as well and had the same problem - quite simple to solve! Just open the digi and go to the inside of the power supply and reconnect those rubber plugs, just wiggle them a bit.
Check this post out: Hardware Not Recognized -- Rack 002 Hope it works for you |

Re: Another power harness issue...
Digidesign told me, by the serial number of my unit and after checking other stuff inside, that the harness may not have to be replaced... They sugested removing it and put it there again, so I did it and I had almost a week without a problem. Now I'm getting the same... Maybe bad connection? What else should I do/try?
Thanks |
