Default warehouse studio

I was thinking of moving into a warehouse/studio/loft here in portland. I had a couple of questions for anyone experienced in this, 1. Is it a good idea, considering i get in a good area and have heat water electric? 2. will i want anymore than 1000 sq ft for a control room, vocal booth, live room, and living quarters? 3. where can i find a lot of listings for warehouses?

Thanks

Maine or Oregon?
1000 sq. ft. is pretty small for studio and living quarters. Make sure the space either has or can be wired for separate electrical service for the studio. Check the noise level during the day, often warehouses are in loud industrial areas not well suited for a studio without major renovations ($$$)
Check with commercial realty companies, those specializing in Commercial space, they handle lease buildings as well as selling them.
Another alternative is a large victorian house, modifying a floor for studio use.
Good Luck!

it'd be Oregon. I found a 2,000 sq ft studio/warehouse heat water elec inc. but it's $1,600/mo. I wish i could afford that.

I can't afford it either, but it is a good deal.

I thought about finding a warehouse space in Seattle about 5 years ago...but I found out the going price was around a dollar a square foot per month. I wanted 1500 square feet...= $1500 per month. Too rich for me, with 2 ADATs and a Mackie...back to the basement bedroom studio...

best of luck,
