Default untamed mouse

i've had this problem before, and i've seen it posted here, too. sometimes when i first open protools, the mouse doesn't respond accurately. when clicked, the action is about an inch above where it should be, ie: highlighting the wrong track, etc. used to be i could just minimize pt, than maximize, and all would be back to normal, but lately when it happens, and i switch from mix window to edit, or vice-versa, i have to go thru the minimize/maximize routine a couple of times. is there a fix?

ReniuR, i'm using a logitech wireless trackball with the software that came with it. it only does this withing the protools software. not other programs. it doesn't even do it when i reach in the upper right of the screen to minimize the protools window, just within the confines of the protools software windows. thanx for replying and any help you might have,
george

Sid,

Sorry, I don't have a solution for you. I am curious though... I've only seen similar problems when using a Logitech pointing device on a Abit motherboard. I've seen it on several Abit machines. It has always gone away with a reboot. I also have found that it doesn't happen when using standard Microsoft drivers with the Logitech device. It's never been exclusive to PT though. It's always been with everything in Windows.

You wouldn't happen to be using an Abit motherboard would you? Just curious.

Mike

I just knew you were going to say Logitech.

It seems like Logitech gives a lot of people problems (especially with PT).
Try using the standard windows drivers instead of the Logitech ones.

yep, just go to device manager in windows and change it to the intellipoint drivers. I use a logitech mouse with those drivers installed and everything works great. Logitech has a reputation for it's drivers confusing certain applications, I didn't know until now Pro Tools was one of them!!

I experienced the same problem with my Microsoft wheel mouse on a DELL 4100 with ME. Had to reboot to reset it. It's only happened twice I was wondering if might be screen resolution?

i don't think it's screen resolution, cause it's not doing it to other programs, plus it stops after minimizing.
