Default copying PT sessions from PC internal to Mac external

I just recently made the jump over to Mac from PC. Got a MacBook Pro. I have tons of session on my PC's internal audio drive, and I'd like to copy them onto a Mac-formatted external hard drive. What would be the best way to do this?

The most sensible thing I've thought of so far, is using an external Windows hard drive, formatted with NTFS (which I believe Mac can read (but not write)). Copy my sessions to that drive.

Then hook that up to my PC along with the firewire Mac-formatted drive I'm going to use and transfer them over.

Is there a better way to do this, or is this my best bet?

If you do it that way you're going to need TWO drives! One that's NTFS to copy from PC and an HFS+ to copy the files to for the Mac. You could always format a drive FAT which a Mac will read/write to, right?

someone on macrumors.com posted a link to a method via direct ethernet that lets you transfer files over. I think I might try it. here it is...

Yes indeed(assuming you check the little box during the install). Another option is to download the free trial of MacDrive which allows your PC to read and write to an HFS+ external drive so you can drag the sessions from your PC to the external drive, or open the sessions on the PC, and choose Save Session Copy(and check the box for "copy all audio files").

If your pc's drive uses the SATA connection setup get a FW external box to put the drive into and connect that to your Mac and pull the files from the external drive to your Mac's drive. Another way, depending on the size of the sessions is to copy them onto a dual layer dvd and put those disks in your Mac's Superdrive and bring the sessions in that way.

Or you could network the two machines together via Ethernet.

we use flash drives to transfer our sessions from mac to pc and pc to mac. They are still formatted fat32 so can be read by both.
16 gigs is now about $30.
