don`t know if you have sorted this out yet but the same thing happened to me when I wasw living in South Korea and I took it to a electronics shop and the guy pulled the whole 001 apart and calmly removed the broken piece of headphone input.
It was kind of scary initially but he really knew what he was doing and he only charged me $20. So it can be fixed without shoving pliers into your machine.
