Default 12.4 Freeze Really saves the resources!!!!!

Just had to report on this. THis morning I ran a quick test of the TF using Omnisphere. As some of you know, Omni can be a real resource hog at times. In this case, I purposely chose a multi patch with 8 separate parts. I assigned each part to its own output to AUX tracks in PT. Before Freeze, the simple 2 bar 4 chord loop spiked at nearly 100% on the old usage meter. AFTER freeze....2-3%!!!! And that's with 8 different freeze tracks for the 8 parts. That's incredible!!!

It is unreal, working on a session doing guitar parts had most of the song 70 tracks deactivated to save resources and track at lowest sample rate, now I just froze the tracks and I can hear the whole song while tracking the new guitar parts... Thank you Avid

I also have sometimes problem with omnisphere when using it with multi outs...(meaning a simple instance of omnisphere in muti mode) having cpu overloads..
I found out that if you use multiple instances of omnisphere, the cpu distribution is WAY better...
I know that this is not relevant to your post but just saying...

Yeah, I discovered that too. But now with Freeze and/or Commit...its no longer an issue!

Of course it saves resources. Strange that some of you have never used freeze before in other daws.

That's why it's a big deal for PT. Glad they finally have it. For me, more for the AUX Bus freeze towards the end.

This is what it's really about. Resources, sure, but latency is the bigger deal.

Makes a native rig like a DSP rig with minimal hassle.

Yep. Which is why I can't quite decide if I'm happy or sad to fork out that much for 12HD for using something I've been using for almost 10 years in Live...
