Default How can I upgrade to PT8?

Due to the age of my cpu I cant upgrade to Win.7. I have XP sp2 and PT 7.4cs10 registered. I really need to upgrade to PT8. Can anyone tell me how to do this? I've looked everywhere on this sight. I bought a 001 new and upgraded to a 002 in 2007. I really need some help. Can't upgrade cpu at this time. Thanks for your help.

Before you do anything, I would either clone and remove your working system drive, or save a drive image with something like Acronis True Image. Then its a simple matter of buying a copy of LE8. With 9 and 10 being so well received, I imagine there are plenty of users out there that have an old copy of 8 lying around that they would be happy to sell at a reasonable price, Remember, many of the LE8 install disks were bad, so maybe get the seller to download the installer and burn to a CD-R/DVD-R for you? You will need the authorization code too(the one that starts with "DIGI08......."). 8 does add several nice goodies for you

Thanks Mr albee1952. Not sure how to clone my drive. There's 2 Glyph hard drives in there. I think one reads and one writes, that's about all I know. There is a Acronis recovery system installed on my cpu. Any help on the procedure would be great. I would be willing to buy PT8 like you said with the installer and authorization code if anyone would be interested in selling it. Anyone can contact me if needed @ [email protected] As always thanks for your help.It would hard for a lot of us without guys like you sir.

Open Acronis with any external drive connected and save a drive image to the external. Its worth reading the help files as its too complicated to explain here, but it really isn't that bad(and the program generally will walk you thru it if you choose "Backup my Files and Folders" as a starting point. Cloning is handy for making an exact duplicate system drive from any spare that has enough space.

Not sure, but I would likely update anyway. SP3 worked fine as far as I can can remember

BTW, the best versions of 8(for me anyway) were 8.0.3 and 8.0.5. 8.0.4 had a serious time placement issue(I recommend 8.0.3 for XP, 8.0.5 would be for Windows 7).
